ROW 2-5: Dc ea st across, ch-3, turn.
ROW 6: Dc ea st across, join White, fasten off Scarlet, ch-3, turn.
ROW 7-14: Dc ea st across, ch-3, turn.
ROW 15: Dc ea st across, join Blue, fasten off white, ch-3, turn.
ROW 16-34: Dc ea st across, ch-3, turn. End row 34 fasten off.

EDGING:
With Blue thread and 7 hook join in end 1st row of blue section, ch-1, sc sa st as beg ch-1, evenly sc ea st and row around in blue working (2 sc, ch-2, 2 sc) in ea corner, rep joining and fastening off appropriate colors, sl st top beg sc, fasten off.
Fold short edges of cover in 2”. With needle and matching thread sew ea end to book cover.
STAR:
With White thread and 7 hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 10 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (10 sts)
RND 2: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (15 sts)
RND 3: (2 hdc next st, hdc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (20 sts)
