MATERIALS: Made with seven 1 3\4 oz. balls Bernat Lollipop baby fingering yarn in Baby Green and size 1 hook.
FINISHED SIZE: 30” X 37”
GAUGE: 5 cl sts = 2”, 5 rows cl st = 2”, 6 sdc = 1”, 6 rows sdc = 1”
SPECIAL ST INSTRUCTIONS: To make a shallow double crochet or sdc. A double crochet st basically has 3 horizontal threads at the top and two vertical threads below that. A sdc is made by inserting your hook through those 2 vertical threads of previous row’s st, yo, pull through and con’t with making a double crochet.
BODY:
ROW 1: With green yarn and size 1 hook ch-301, dc 6 th ch from hook, * ch-3, sk 2 ch, work a 4 dc cl next ch and placing 4 th dc into next ch, rep from * to last 2 ch, ch-3, work 4 dc cl placing 4 th dc in last ch, turn.
ROW 2-62: Ch-3, dc next ch-3 sp, * ch-3, work 4 dc cl putting 4 th dc into next ch-3 sp, rep from * across putting final dc in top of ch at beg of previous row, turn.
EDGING:
RND 1: Turn afghan so you are now working down one short size, ch-1, * Evenly work 133 dc along short side, 3 dc in corner st, evenly work 185 dc along long side, 3 dc in corner st, rep from * twice, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn. (748 sts)
RND 2: (Sdc next st, ch-2, sk next st) around, sl st top beg sdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 3: [ * Sdc next st, dc next ch-2 sp* 67 times, (2 sdc next st, 3 dc next ch-2 sp), rep bet ** 93 times, rep bet ()] rep bet [] twice, sl st top beg sdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 4: Rep row 2.
RND 5: [* Sdc next st, dc next ch-2 sp* 68 times, (sdc next st, 3 dc next ch-2 sp)
